• 7 years of experience in system software design and development in C/C++.

• 5 years of experience in technical leadership and people management.

• Experience with software engineering practices including release management, test automation, and quality assurance.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in software/hardware integration, system bring-up, and diagnostics.

• Experience in large-scale and secure fleet management of servers and components.

• Experience with developer operations, release management, integration testing, and server management protocols: DMTF, PLDM, IPMI.

• Experience in Python/Go and scripting languages (e.g. Shell).

• Experience with hyper scale data center software management.

• Knowledge of one or more of the following: ARM and x86 assembly servers architects, system BIOS, hardware/software integration.

The Machine Management and Monitoring team builds the software and infrastructure that provides telemetry and control of Google data center hardware. As a Software Engineering Manager, you'll provide leadership to a group of software engineers in an innovative environment, with a combination of a horizontal (e.g., server management and control) and vertical (e.g., project, product development) responsibilities.

• Lead a team of software engineers in accomplishing roadmap goals.

• Collaborate with executive developers and the team to gather requirements, define architecture, and review detailed designs.

• Work with stakeholders to provide status updates, facilitate iterative releases, and make design decisions throughout the development process.

• Drive the evaluation and implementation of new server management and control technologies, health monitors, and supporting tools for data center needs.

• Establish and maintain a team for sustaining Google data center server management software.
