More About the Role:

Leidos is seeking a Network Switching Design Engineer Senior to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy and Marine Corps in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support network engineering for voice, video, and data communications (such as BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity) in the NMCI and USMC networks.

What You'll Get to Do:

The Network Switching Design Engineer Senior will proactively contribute to the analysis of system requirements, planning, architectural design, system verification testing, and ongoing technical oversight to NMCI and USMC transport systems.

Duties include:

•Serve as a technical expert for vendor solutions.

•Perform research, development and analysis, and validation testing of vendor solutions to ensure effective design and application in the production environment.

•Collaborate with system Domain Architects to define system requirements and recommend hardware selections based on cost and capability analysis.

•Provide technical knowledge transfer to operational teams as part of the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of networking/transport projects.

•Engineer solutions that provide secure, effective, and efficient operations of systems, architecture, and topology for transport.

•Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects related to transport for the NMCI network.

•Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to transport.

•Lead analysis, review, and validation with customers, stakeholders, and team members for NMCI projects and changes related to transport.

•Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.

•Comply with ITSM processes and procedures, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance, and Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239.

•Support development and maintenance of engineering processes, checklists, and procedures for transport.

•Execute LAN/BAN and Data Center Switching network design, integration, and implementation Develop, update, track, and perform Internet Protocol (IP) scheme and address management.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

•Typically requires B.S. Degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience (in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline). May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. Willing to hire candidates that have advanced certifications and in-depth SDA experience in lieu of a degree.

•Five (5) or more years’ experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

•Must be a U.S. Citizen and currently possess, or be able to obtain an active Secret clearance to start the program.

•Must have Security+ or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8570 requirements for IAT-2.

•Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise and/or Security.

•Must have Forescout experience.

•Must have In-depth knowledge of Cisco UCS and 9000 series HW.

•Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity.

•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments designing/architecting networks.

•Hands-on experience in working with DoD networks.

•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.

•Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team.

•Ability to learn, multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

•Must have prior experience supporting the DoD in an IT environment.

•Must have in-depth knowledge of Software Defined Access (SDA) capabilities, to include experience with Fusion routers, Border Nodes and Cisco DNA-C.

•Travel may be required.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

•Certifications:

-CCNP Enterprise or Security.

-Cisco Concentrations: 300-415 ENSDWI v1.2 Implementing Cisco SD-WAN Solutions, 300-735 SAUTO v1.0 Automating Cisco Security Solutions.

-ForeScout Certified Engineer.

-INCOSE CSEP.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
