Sierra Nevada Corporation Engineering Technician V (Hybrid) in Lone Tree, Colorado

This position is situated within a dynamic team-focused environment, emphasizing the planning and execution of comprehensive testing for systems and air vehicles. The role will work in the test instrumentation team and will be responsible for the installation and calibration of strain gauges, installation of flight test instrumentation hardware, installation of wiring and transducers, and troubleshooting of the instrumentation system.

This role is open to a hybrid schedule

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure flight test instrumentation hardware

  • Install wiring and transducers for instrumentation systems

  • Program the instrumentation system using Das Studio software to collect and analyze data

  • Understand flight test requirements

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with instrumentation systems during flight tests

  • Develop and maintain documentation for instrumentation systems

Must-haves:

  • Associate's degree in a related field of study, at least 10 years of relevant experience

  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience

  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education (12 years)

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

  • Instrumentation experience: Comprehensive understanding of the use of standard laboratory test equipment (strain gauges), spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, Oscilloscope, Pitot static equipment, other measurement equipment, hand tools, and power tools

  • Troubleshooting skills

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

  • Flight test instrumentation experience

  • Familiarity with FCC and FCC GROL

  • Basic skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, and wiring installation

  • Understanding of soldering techniques

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with 3-D CAD software

  • Prior experience in a Lead role; the ability to mentor, train, guide and inspect the work of subordinates

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, NASA, the US Department of Defense or US Military

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $42.66 - $58.65. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
