LifeSouth Community Blood Centers Medical Technologist Training Program in Gainesville, Florida
ifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for qualified applicants for the Medical Technologist Training Program asMedical Technologist StudentsinGainesville, FL. Training program starts periodically throughout the year determined by national exam availability.
The selected candidates will participate in a rigorous four-month training program and will be full time paid employees of LifeSouth for the duration of the program. After completion, graduates should be eligible to take a certification exam that will allow them to apply for Florida licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Medical Technologist) in the specialties of Immunohematology and Blood Banking. Students will be required to sign a service commitment of two years to LifeSouth after obtaining their FL license.*

LifeSouth is not required to extend an offer of employment after completion of the program, and an offer of employment may be applicable to LifeSouth Laboratories in Atlanta, GA or Jacksonville, FL after completion of the program in Gainesville FL.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a science-related field
Completion of required coursework including: 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 additional semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination
Must currently be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must not possess a history of licensure actions or criminal acts that would prevent the applicant from applying for or obtaining a Florida Medical License or Trainee license
Valid driver's license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth's driver eligibility requirements.
The employee must have a valid driver's license to drive their vehicle or a company vehicle to various worksite locations as required by the employer.
Ability to solve complex problems and accurately evaluate results
Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to prepare neat and legible reports
Ability to work with little or no supervision after adequate instructions
Must maintain a clean and organized work area
Ability to prioritize tasks to complete work efficiently

This is a full-time position. Starting salary range is $12.00 - $13.20 an hour plus benefits for the duration of the training program. Once student is certified and licensed as a Medical Technologist salary will increase to $27.00 and hour. Criminal background check and drug screen required upon conditional offer of hire.
