Corewell Health Floor Technician Long Term Care in Farmington Hills, Michigan
Job Summary
Floor Technicians are generally responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) of areas that include offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas such as cafeterias. Other required duties may be assigned by the supervisor such as light maintenance (bulb changing, etc.). It can also refer to those employees who are responsible only for things like trash removal, recycling programs and wall washing where general, routine cleaning is done by the janitorial services workers.
Essential Functions
Utilizes knowledge of floor care and carpet machines. Must be able to operate machinery using disciplined procedures and in a safe manner. The ability to clean, maintain and do minor maintenance on floor care machinery.
Vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets, stairwells and upholstery.
Perform preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use.
Floors care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
Routine restroom cleaning, to include wall cleaning, dusting (high and low).
Secure the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work.
Simple maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, bulb changing.
Maintenance of floor care equipment.
Obey all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years of relevant experience Two to Four years of hands on work experience as a floor care technician in commercial buildings Required
