Robert Half Benefits Coordinator in El Segundo, California

Description

The Benefits Coordinator assists employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries, verifies insurance billing, maintains employee databases and files, performs reconciliations, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible spending plans, and retirement plans. The coordinator provides excellent customer service, designs quality benefits plans, continually explores new benefits programs, improves existing ones, and oversees benefits administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, dental and vision plans, accident and disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.

  • Conduct benefits orientations and explain the benefits self-enrollment system.

  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure accurate entry of benefits changes in the payroll system for payroll deductions.

  • Assist employees with claims related to health, dental, life, and other benefits.

  • Verify the calculation of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data on premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative issues with carrier representatives.

  • Administer COBRA.

  • Assist the Director of HR in obtaining statistics and information for the renewal of health, life, and retirement plans.

  • Prepare and set up meetings to help employees understand company benefits and related incentive programs. Ensure the distribution of required employee notices.

  • Prepare and maintain biweekly/monthly employee reports, new-hire reports, and absentee reports.

  • Assist the Director of HR in completing benefits reporting requirements.

  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field, and five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred.

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now Benefits.

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Strong business judgment and interpersonal skills needed to interact with a variety of people across multiple job functions and levels.

  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.

  • Professionalism in dealing with people at all levels.

  • Ability to work successfully in a team and build effective working relationships.

  • Positive, dedicated, and approachable personality.

  • Ability to remain poised under pressure and switch gears at a moment’s notice.

  • Basic math skills.
