The Cambridge Chip Implementation team is looking for a Digital Implementation Engineer to help design, develop and optimise Qualcomm's pioneering range of IoT / Voice and Music products. Working in Cambridge, the team works alongside colleagues in digital design and verification, system design, software, packaging, analogue design, and silicon verification teams. This creates a unique environment where you can learn how each team interacts starting from initial concept to create the final product.
Working closely with others, the successful candidate will take Digital HDL designs through Design flows to make the product. Working to optimise the design for power, performance, and area. As part of the Chip Implementation team, this role gives great opportunity to work on a wide range of different technical areas: from synthesis, timing analysis and constraint generation, to physical design including formal verification, low power, and physical layout checks.
Responsibilities
Run block level synthesis of digital HDL designs.
Optimize synthesis flow for power, performance, and area.
Run signoff tools to check timing, power and area goals are met!
Develop timing and low power design constraints
Run placement, clock tree synthesis, routing flows
Participate in design reviews
Identify areas for flow and process improvements.
Support the creation of ECO scripts to incorporate late design changes or timing fixes.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Great attention to detail and strong communication skills
Knowledge of synchronous digital design
Proficient in scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, TCL) and Linux shell usage
Experience of RTL design (e.g. verilog or VHDL) or static timing analysis
Previous exposure to commercial EDA tools (e.g. Design/Fusion Compiler, Innovus, Primetime, PTPX)
Hands-on experience developing timing constraints or CPF/UPF power constraints
Knowledge of Design for Test (Scan test, mbist)
Knowledge of physical design (Floorplanning, PnR, CTS etc)
Minimum Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or closely related field
